PROJECT 1   -   SKELETAL CONSTRUCTION (TEMPORARY BUS SHELTER)

In a group of 5, we have to design and construct a temporary bus shelter in scale of 1:5 that can accommodate 5-6 people.

The main objective of the project is:

- To create an understanding of skeletal structure and its relevant structural components

- To understand how a skeletal structure reacts under loading

- To demonstrate a convincing understanding of how skeletal construction works

- T o be able to manipulate skeletal construction to solve an oblique design problem.

PROJECT 2   -   UNDERSTANDING FORCES IN BUILDING CONSTRUCTION

In a group of 3, we have to choose a building (tensile/membrane construction or grid shell construction) and identify the structural systems used in the construction of the building of our choice.

Besides, we need to produce a model on A3 board to show the basic construction of it and 2 A2 board to show the construction method, material, joint and other information.

The main objective of the project is:

- To create an understanding of building components used and its assembly.

- To demonstrate good drawing skills in building details and how it reacts under loading and force,

- To be able to manipulate the selection of materials used and ensure its buildability.
